Dubai is launching flying taxis and unveils four official vertiports. Service begins in 2026, bringing a faster and more sustainable way to travel around the city.
Dubai continues to set the global pace in innovation and urban mobility — and the flying taxi project is a prime example. The city has confirmed that commercial eVTOL taxi operations will begin in 2026, accompanied by the announcement of four official vertiports that will form the backbone of Dubai’s first aerial mobility network. The goal is simple: shorten travel times, reduce road congestion, and introduce a futuristic, emission-free way of getting around.
Flying taxis promise a major time advantage. A journey from Dubai International Airport to Palm Jumeirah, which can take up to 45 minutes by car, will take roughly 12 minutes by eVTOL — without traffic, noise or emissions. Fully electric propulsion also supports Dubai’s ambition to become one of the world’s cleanest and most progressive cities.
Four official vertiports confirmed for the first phase
1. Dubai International Airport (DXB)
The largest and most critical vertiport is being built at DXB, where demand will naturally be highest. The multi-level facility will include landing zones, charging stations and passenger services.
2. Palm Jumeirah
A premium vertiport near Atlantis The Royal will connect the island with the rest of the city in minutes. It will also become a highlight for visitors thanks to panoramic flights above the Palm.
3. Downtown Dubai
Located near Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall, this vertiport will serve as a central hub for both residents and tourists. It will be directly linked to public transport, ensuring seamless transfers.
4. Dubai Marina
A key stop in one of Dubai’s most vibrant residential districts. The Marina vertiport will make everyday travel between the west side, Downtown and the airport significantly faster.
More vertiports on the way
Dubai’s aerial mobility infrastructure will expand over time, with future locations expected in Zabeel, Dubai Mall, Dubai Internet City and other major districts. The goal is to establish a dense network capable of serving high passenger volumes.
Service launching in 2026
Commercial launch: 31 March 2026
Test flights have already been successfully completed
eVTOL aircraft are quiet, fast and emission-free
Regulatory approvals are in their final phase
Why aerial mobility is the future
Flying taxis combine speed, sustainability and a unique travel experience. Their ability to take off and land vertically makes them ideal for dense urban environments, cutting travel times dramatically.
Dubai enters a new era
The introduction of flying taxis is not just a technological milestone — it’s the start of a new chapter in urban mobility. When the first eVTOLs take off in 2026, Dubai will once again stand at the forefront of global innovation.
