Dubai presents the latest transport solution that is so futuristic it could be mistaken for a UFO - a flying taxi!
In 2026, Dubai will officially launch the world's first urban electric flying taxi service.
Imagine that instead of waiting in a frustrating traffic jam on Sheikh Zayed Road, you can simply take off and fly over all the cars below you. Not only that, these taxis will be able to reach speeds of up to 321 km/h, meaning that the journey from the airport to Palm Jumeirah can take just 10 minutes instead of the usual 45 minutes. That's faster than pizza delivery!
And what do these flying wonders look like?
Equipped with six propellers and four battery packs, they look like a distant relative of drones and helicopters. Another fascinating fact is that these flying taxis will have their own special stops known as vertiports, which will be connected to metro stations and allow easy access to major destinations. The Vertiports will include four air taxi stands and two airstrips.
Additionally, these taxis will have zero operational emissions, contributing to a more sustainable and greener transport system. This project promises a whole new level of urban mobility and points to the future of urban transport in Dubai.
